Laurentis donates to Future Generations Foundation in advance of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

In recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Sept. 30, Laurentis is pleased to make a donation to the Future Generations Foundation (FG Foundation) through the company’s Powering Reconciliation Fund.

The FG Foundation is a First Nations-led and guided organization with a goal of helping First Nations and Indigenous communities address the impacts of the residential school system and build a better future for next generations. The FG Foundation was founded in 1975 as the National Indian Brotherhood Trust Fund to seek solutions for communities facing social, economic, and scientific issues. In September 2023, the trust fund was renamed to the FG Foundation, embodying the “enduring spirit of resilience, integrity, and hope inherent in First Nations peoples.”

The FG Foundation funds initiatives related to cultural preservation, education, and healing to meet the diverse needs of First Nations. Priority is given to projects and initiatives that benefit survivors of the residential school system and their communities. The FG Foundation also has a Métis Fund, which supports educational programs that promote healing, reconciliation, culture, and education for Métis individuals and organizations.

This marks the third donation Laurentis has made through the Powering Reconciliation Fund, established as a direct response to the commitment outlined in the company’s first Reconciliation Action Plan. The plan allocates a percentage of the company’s annual charity giving program budget to Indigenous charities, Indigenous-owned philanthropic organizations, and Indigenous capacity-building organizations, both at the national level and in the communities where Laurentis employees work and live.

Laurentis is dedicated to taking meaningful action to advance reconciliation, and the FG Foundation’s mission aligns with that that commitment. To learn more about the FG Foundation, visit https://www.fgfoundation.ca/.
