Laurentis donates to Indigenous Veterans Initiative
In recognition of Indigenous Veterans Day on Nov. 8, Laurentis Energy Partners (Laurentis) is pleased to contribute to the Last Post Fund’s Indigenous Veterans Initiative (IVI) in support of Indigenous veterans and their families.
This is the fourth donation Laurentis has made in 2024 through its Powering Reconciliation Fund, which the company established earlier this year as a direct response to the commitment outlined in its first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to allocate a percentage of its annual charity giving program budget to Indigenous charities, Indigenous-owned philanthropic organizations, and Indigenous capacity-building organizations, both at the national level and in the communities where Laurentis employees work and live.
The Last Post Fund was established to deliver the Veteran Affairs Canada Funeral and Burial Program with a mission to provide veterans with a dignified funeral and burial, including a military gravestone, if they are unable to afford it at their time of death. In 2019, the Last Post Fund introduced the IVI, aligning the fund with the Canadian government’s efforts to advance reconciliation. The IVI provides grave markers for Indigenous veterans who have been buried for more than five years in unmarked graves. It also adds the traditional names of Indigenous veterans for those who have existing grave markers.
The IVI’s efforts align with Laurentis’s own corporate commitments to take meaningful action to advance reconciliation, as detailed in its RAP. To learn more about the Indigenous Veterans Initiative, visit www.lastpostfund.ca/indigenous-veterans-initiative.
