Laurentis advances commitments to support Indigenous reconciliation and inclusion in the energy sector

In April 2024, Laurentis launched its first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), in support of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action #92, which urges corporate Canada to help create a better future. The RAP is a formalized set of commitments, translating the company’s good intentions into action and creating meaningful impacts for Indigenous Peoples.

Through the RAP, Laurentis established several initial goals to further advance reconciliation with Indigenous communities, businesses, and organizations. One year later, Laurentis is pleased to announce it has delivered on all its outlined commitments for 2024, including:

  • Creating an Indigenous relations policy
  • Developing a supplier diversity policy and building an Indigenous supplier database
  • Joining the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business
  • Incorporating land acknowledgements for the communities and regions in which Laurentis operates in Canada
  • Implementing Indigenous cultural awareness training for all new and existing employees and leaders
  • Developing an Indigenous recruitment strategy
  • Donating to Indigenous charities, including Indigenous Veterans Initiative, Future Generations Foundation, Indspire, and Moose Hide Campaign
  • Recognizing an Indigenous awareness month dedicated to internal Indigenous awareness

Laurentis’s RAP commitments are built around five pillars: governance, education, employment, community and economic engagement, and health and wellness. As a living document, the RAP and its actions and goals will evolve over time.

In 2025, Laurentis intends to continue its journey towards creating a better future for Indigenous Peoples, through executing its remaining commitments of:

  • Establishing interfaith wellness rooms in Laurentis workplaces, where feasible
  • Developing an Indigenous advancement strategy with opportunities to advance Indigenous inclusion and reconciliation efforts at Laurentis
  • Providing trauma support for Indigenous employees in response to real-time events
  • Creating an employee club dedicated to independently engaging with Indigenous content
  • Researching the feasibility of establishing an Elders in Residence program
  • Continuing to donate to Indigenous charities
We are proud of achieving our first-year targets but understand there is still so much more we need to do. Laurentis is dedicated to taking action to advance reconciliation, working closely with Indigenous communities, businesses, and organizations. Our Reconciliation Action Plan is critical to this effort, guiding our actions and ensuring accountability and transparency. We look forward to progressing our commitments this year and to establishing new commitments over the years to come, while continuing to listen and learn throughout our journey.
