Laurentis launches Powering Reconciliation Fund and makes first donation to Moose Hide Campaign
Laurentis Energy Partners (Laurentis) is pleased to announce the creation of its Powering Reconciliation Fund, the next step in the company’s journey of reconciliation and making meaningful impacts for Indigenous Peoples and communities.
The fund is a direct response to the commitment outlined in Laurentis’s first Reconciliation Action Plan to allocate a percentage of the company’s annual charity giving program budget to Indigenous charities, Indigenous-owned philanthropic organizations, and Indigenous capacity-building organizations, both at the national level and in the communities where Laurentis employees work and live. The Powering Reconciliation Fund will support groups and activities that are taking steps to bring about reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada, while addressing the long-term legacy of the Residential School system.
Along with the launch of the Powering Reconciliation Fund, Laurentis is proud to announce the first donation through this new fund has been made to the Moose Hide Campaign, an Indigenous-led grassroots movement to engage men and boys in ending violence against women and children. The campaign was founded in British Columbia and has since grown into a nationwide movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians committed to taking action to end this violence. Participants include local communities, First Nations, governments, schools, academia, law enforcement, and numerous organizations.
At the center of the Moose Hide Campaign is the moose hide pin, which is distributed, at no charge, to schools, workplaces, and communities across Canada and worn to demonstrate a commitment to honour, respect, and protect women and children and speak out against gender-based and domestic violence.
To further support and raise awareness about the Moose Hide Campaign, moose hide pins will be distributed to Laurentis employees to wear on National Moose Hide Campaign Day, Thursday, May 16.
