Laurentis’s isotopes improve millions of lives
Radioactive isotopes are critical in so many areas of our lives. From medical care and research, to security and food preservation, to consumer technology and advanced research, the list is growing longer every day. As one of the world’s leading suppliers of critical, in-demand isotopes, Laurentis is helping lead the charge by developing cutting-edge new techniques to produce isotopes that are changing lives and propelling industries forward.
Laurentis’s medical isotopes
There are two main categories of radioisotope application: medical and non-medical. Laurentis supplies both. The company’s medical isotope production includes molybdenum-99 and yttrium-90. Its non-medical isotope production includes helium-3.
Medical isotopes are used to diagnose or treat disease and to sterilize medical equipment.
The Target Delivery System (TDS), developed by Laurentis and its partner BWXT Medical Ltd., is a specifically engineered irradiation system designed to produce medical isotopes within a CANDU nuclear reactor while the reactor remains online. This means that there is no disruption to the generation of clean energy: a working nuclear reactor can power a local economy while producing life-saving medical isotopes.
At our core, Laurentis is a place for innovators. When we saw the growing need for a reliable supply of radioisotopes, we got to work and the results speak for themselves. Laurentis has quickly established itself as a global leader in isotope production for the 21st century.Chris HorneVice President of Isotopes
Molybdenum-99
Mo-99 is the gold standard for medical diagnostics as its decay product, technetium-99m, is used in more than 30 million medical treatments each year.

Yttrium-90
Laurentis’s Y-90 will be distributed by Boston Scientific in more than 30 countries where it will be used to shrink and kill cancerous tumours.
