Chris Horne
Vice President of Isotopes
Jason Van Wart
President and CEO
Jason Van Wart joined Laurentis Energy Partners in 2018 as Vice President. In 2023, he was appointed as President and CEO. Since joining the company, Jason has been instrumental to Laurentis’s growth, expanding its operations across Canada and internationally.
Jason was previously the Senior Vice President of Nuclear Sustainability at Ontario Power Generation (OPG). Prior to this, he held the position of Vice President for OPG's Inspection and Reactor Innovation (IRI) Division. He began his career at OPG in 2001 and has worked in progressively senior positions with Nuclear Engineering, Finance, Inspection and Maintenance.
Hailing from Atlantic Canada, Jason is a professional engineer who completed both a bachelors and a masters degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New Brunswick. In 2014, Jason completed his MBA at the Rotman School of Management.
He currently lives with his wife and son in Toronto.
Chris Horne
Vice President of Isotopes
Chris Horne is Laurentis's Vice President of Isotopes. Chris joined Laurentis Energy Partners in 2018 as Senior Manager, Projects, to deliver on the molybdenum-99 and helium-3 isotope projects. After successfully delivering on these innovative projects, Chris transitioned to Director of Operations to lead the Isotope Operations, Field Services department, as well as the clean energy facilities in Hamilton, Ontario and Tiverton, Ontario.
Prior to joining Laurentis, Chris held various positions for Ontario Power Generation, beginning in 2001. These included providing several first-of-a-kind solutions in the reactor maintenance and inspection space. In particular, Chris has received a number of industry accolades and recognition for his work with fuel channel replacement and reactivity mechanism maintenance.
Chris is passionate about the potential that isotopes will have on the medical industry, as well as providing clean energy solutions for customers to ensure future generations can thrive on the benefits of a nuclear society.
Kamlesh Roy
Vice President of Finance
Kamlesh Roy joined Laurentis Energy Partners in 2023 as the Vice President of Finance.
Kamlesh has more than 20 years of experience directing financial operations for companies including De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Ltd., Bombardier Aerospace and Wipro. With a distinguished career in financial management and strategic planning, Kamlesh plays a pivotal role in ensuring Laurentis’s financial growth. His expertise in optimizing financial operations further reinforces Laurentis's ability to drive innovation and deliver exceptional value.
Kamlesh lives in Brampton, Ontario with his wife and has two childrens, a son who is in university and a daughter who is in high school. His interests include cricket, soccer and travelling.
Laura Van Soelen
Vice President of Corporate Services
Laura Van Soelen joined Laurentis in 2022 after spending 13 years practicing law for the international law firm, Gowling WLG.
Laura began her legal career in 2008, first practicing commercial litigation with a focus on defence-side class action work. In 2010, Laura joined a team litigating a dispute over a major nuclear refurbishment project, which initiated her interest in nuclear energy.
In 2015, Laura transitioned her legal practice to focus specifically on energy matters. Before joining Laurentis, as a partner in Gowling WLG's Energy Group, Laura gained expertise in energy regulation, commercial contracting, and dispute resolution. Her clients included power producers in the conventional and nuclear sectors, distributors, retailers, and industrial energy consumers. Laura represented clients on applications and in compliance proceedings before the Ontario Energy Board, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, and the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board.
Laura previously supported Laurentis's predecessor, Canadian Nuclear Partners, while on secondment from Gowling WLG to Ontario Power Generation's Law Department.
Kamal Verma
Chief Nuclear Engineer and Executive Consultant
Kamal Verma joined Laurentis Energy Partners in March 2021 as Chief Nuclear Engineer for its European-based subsidiary Canadian Nuclear Partners (CNP) SA. Kamal has 45-plus years of experience in design, construction, and commissioning of CANDU 6 nuclear power plants worldwide.
In November 2022, Kamal was appointed Director of Engineering and Chief Nuclear Engineer for Laurentis/CNPSA. He is currently Chief Nuclear Engineer and Executive Consultant for Laurentis/CNPSA, providing engineering oversight for SMRs, as well as other engineering projects.
Kamal has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Punjab University and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Tuskegee University, Alabama. Before joining Laurentis, Kamal was Vice President of CANDU 6 Fleet Engineering with SNC-Lavalin (AtkinsRealis). He was President of the Pacific Nuclear Council (2018-2020) and President of the Canadian Nuclear Society (2021-2022). In 2023, he was awarded the Harold A. Smith Outstanding Contribution Award in recognition of his contribution to the Canadian nuclear industry.
Kamal lives in Toronto with his wife and has two sons, one who is in radiology and another who consults in the nuclear industry.
Michael Hare
Managing Director, Europe
Michael G. Hare has more than 30 years of experience in the nuclear sector. From 2005 to 2013, was a senior manager and executive at Point Lepreau, responsible for all aspects of layup, training, commissioning, restart and regulatory interface for New Brunswick Power's Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Project. From 2015 to 2021, Michael held senior leadership roles at Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station, including Deputy Chief Nuclear Officer, Station Director, and Operations Manager.
In 2021, Michael joined Laurentis's Romanian subsidiary, Canadian Nuclear Partners S.A., as a Refurbishment Project Management Expert to aid in preparation for the Cernavoda Unit 1 Refurbishment. In this role, Michael was responsible for leading a team of experts in project management, nuclear steam plant, balance of plant, nuclear safety and analysis, and cost estimating. In addition, he has set up the organizational model with roles and responsibilities for owner's engineer and utility project staff, provided the strategy for the project governance system, drafted project execution and quality assurance plans, and developed division of responsibility between the owner and third-party suppliers.
Michael has bachelor of science from the University of New Brunswick, a professional engineer certificate, and is a graduate of the Smith School of Business. Michael is married with two daughters and one granddaughter, and enjoys boating, golfing, skiing, and travelling.
