Raj Verma excited to embrace a new adventure and lead Laurentis’s Eastern European operations

Raj Verma and familyRaj Verma’s appetite for adventure and new opportunities is taking him across the globe and into a new role with Laurentis.

In March, Verma will move, along with his wife and three children, across the pond where he will lead Laurentis Energy Partners’ (Laurentis) operations overseas as Vice President and Managing Director, Eastern Europe. He will also manage the operations of Laurentis’s subsidiary, Canadian Nuclear Partners S.A. (CNP).

Verma joined Laurentis in 2023 as Executive Advisor and manages the company’s business development functions. As an experienced energy sector executive with an extensive background in industry operations, project management and international business development, he is the perfect fit to lead Laurentis’s business activities in Eastern Europe.

“I’m excited that my family and I can embark on this new chapter in our lives, immerse ourselves in a new culture and embrace new experiences,” Verma said. “I’m really looking forward to supporting Laurentis’s operations in Eastern Europe where nuclear energy is becoming increasingly important to address energy security.”

Laurentis has operated in Romania since 2021 and has offices in Bucharest and Cernavoda. The company is increasing its support by bringing Ontario’s CANDU experience to Societatea Nationala Nuclearelectrica S.A. (SNN) as the Romanian utility commences refurbishment at the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant. As a result, Laurentis is looking to hire individuals to fill a number of jobs in the near future.

“I would encourage anyone who is interested in an opportunity to live and work in a stunningly scenic part of the world and play a role in innovative, great-breaking projects to consider joining our team in Eastern Europe,” said Verma.

Nuclear sector professionals who are interested in Romania-based opportunities are encouraged to monitor Laurentis’s website for job postings.

Keith Skrepnek: New Beginnings at Laurentis

As Laurentis Energy Partners continues to grow, we are thrilled to welcome Keith Skrepnek to oversee the strategy, program implementation and management of Laurentis’ Business Administration Services, including HR/LR, Payroll, Finance, AP/AR, Supply Chain, Real Estate, and Communications. In this newly created role, Keith is reporting directly into Jason Van Wart, VP of Laurentis Energy Partners.

We recently got a chance to meet with Keith to learn more about him and why he’s excited to join Laurentis.

First, can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Keith: Over the last few years, I served Ontario Power Generation as Director, Facilities & Projects leading an operations team across the province of Ontario. In that time, I initiated a broad operations review, lead the development of an organizational Mission, Vision and Strategy, introduced an organizational redesign and several transformational initiatives designed to re-position the Team for future success. This was a broad reaching role, effectively akin to running an independent business. Most recently, following a brief family relocation to Alberta, I re-joined OPG on contract, supporting Laurentis Energy Partners on a number of initiatives intended to prepare the organization for operational independence.

On the personal front, I’m a Toronto Area native currently living in Courtice, with my wife of 24 years; two adult children pursuing post-secondary education and 3 dogs. Our family loves the outdoors, keeping active, and we look forward to entertaining a house full of family and friends once the COVID-19 pandemic subsides. I’m a huge believer in personal development and I am currently working towards my MBA. I also enjoy teaching and I am serving as a lecturer at Ryerson University’s Chang School of Continuing Education.”

What excited you about joining Laurentis Energy Partners?

Keith: I began my career leading a support services team in a new, small business straight out of school. This kind of environment is challenging, highly dynamic, and offers the opportunity to engage in a broad range of activities supporting the business, enabling your contributions to be highly tangible and directly meaningful to the overall success of the operation. It’s fair to say that I had an early interest in service management and driving operational efficiencies.

Laurentis has the commercial focus and innovative drive that will deliver a huge opportunity for sustainable growth in the future. Our association with OPG also aligns my personal interests in environmental stewardship and sustainability with an organization that prioritizes Corporate Social Responsibility. At the same time, Laurentis’ important role in the supply chain of medical isotopes provides a clear connection between my day-to-day work, and the health and well-being of Ontarians.

With Laurentis’ presence across the province, country and internationally, it is uniquely positioned for success towards a strong growth trajectory. I can’t think of any other place I’d rather be.”

What’s the best career advice you’ve received?

Keith: “Choose the role that opens the most possibilities for your future.”
